A Bridge Too Far is an epic war film directed by Richard Attenborough. The film was a co-production between the United Kingdom and the United States, shot on location in the Netherlands, in many of the real locations where the historical events took place. The Film won four out of eight BAFTA nominations including Best Supporting Actor for Edward Fox and Best Score for John Addison. Attenborough was nominated for Best Direction, and the film was nominated for Best Motion Picture. The film became the sixth most popular movie of 1977.

Wilhelmina Bridge, or Wilhelminabrus is a bridge over the Lissel River in Deventer, Overijssel. The real bridge that was the focus of the Battle of Nijmegen occurred over 4 days in September 1944, as part of Operation Market Garden during World War II.
