Founded after the Second World War, the Locarno Film Festival stands as one of the oldest and most prestigious in Europe and is the most significant in Switzerland. During the eleven days, over 300 films are screened in 13 venues and the winning film is awarded the famous Pardo d’Oro by the city and region of Locarno.

Films are not the only highlight during these eleven days. The Locarno Film Festival offers round tables, public conferences, workshops, and other creative events that bring the #LocarnoExperience to life.
The festival package includes lighter and more entertaining moments at the Rotonda by la Mobiliare, which this year will uniquely embrace the motto “Come together!” This program features music, bars, food trucks, and a carefully curated selection of local and international producers, all with a special focus on the region and eco-sustainability.

Another renowned event in the region is JazzAscona, which this year celebrated its 40th anniversary with “Jazz Off The Wall,” a street art event featuring over 40 giant photographic works by Yuri Catania. The various pieces narrated the history of JazzAscona and the four-decade-long connection between New Orleans and Ascona. During the ten days of the festival, Ascona transforms, embracing the vibrant spirit of the Mississippi city, radiating even more energy through music and countless lights.

During the ten days of the Moon&Stars Festival, Locarno is transformed into another world. From the Ferris wheel near the lake promenade to the Piazza Grande. The street full of food trucks, bunting, colourful lights and people – festival novices, devoted festival-goers and random visitors all mix.
The Lake Maggiore region hosts numerous events that let you soak in the vibe of la dolce vita and the Mediterranean climate. Among the various musical evenings at the different lidos, the Ascona Lido stands out lovers: The Beach Festival, a weekend featuring electronic music, water sports, and yoga classes, and the SunIce Festival, three days of non-stop house music set on the beach and along the lake promenade.
